Launched in 1992, Star Sports TV is the leading sports channel broadcasting live sports events and sports-related shows in India and Indian subcontinent. The Star Sports is part of the Star Sports Network (ESPN Star Sports), which is subsidiary of 21 st Century Fox. Star Sports broadcasts premier live sporting events from across the globe 24 hours a day to an estimated viewership of 310 million. Star Sports strives to deliver highly-optimized and varietal sports content to its customers through its eight channels (4 SD channels: Star Sports 1, 2, 3, 4; 4 HD channels: Star Sports HD1, HD2, HD3 and HD4).

Business Challenge

Star Sports is not only committed to deliver high-quality sports content to its sports-frenzy audience, but always seeks innovative ways to improve their engagement and loyalty to the channel. As a part of transformation strategy, Star Sports was looking for a reliable services partner to migrate its existing studio to spacious infrastructure in Mumbai with 12 production-ready studios. The project deadline was 90 days, just before the start of World Cup 2015, including sufficient time for testing and rehearsals.

RGB Broadcasting had to fare through rigorous selection criteria procedures set by the client – Star Sports. The massive migration program included deploying advanced technology solutions across the hierarchy – production to layout. RGB was given an additional task of technology integration to be completed within the tight deadline. It required integrating the existent Vendor mapping structure with advanced technology solutions that were being brought in. RGBs team had a tough task to blend various discrete technology and infrastructure elements into a unified solution.

RGB Broadcasting’s optimized plan of action ensured timely completion of civil restructuring and technology integration program. RGB’s team successfully upgraded technologies such as 4K video and audio over IP at the production capture. At the centre of this technology transformation was RGB’s talented technocrats, artisans and resource pool featuring industry standard products from vendors and manufacturers across the globe.

RGBs no compromise and thorough professional approach regarding products, people and technology was strictly followed during this civil engineering and installation project. The state-of-the art business products were chosen for graphics, IP Audio automation system and production.
